Vol. 459 No. 3

Written Answers. - Divorce Referendum Campaign.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

73 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance the amount of expenditure, actual or estimated, in respect of the ad hoc commission set up in connection with the divorce referendum campaign; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18028/95]

The ad hoc commission was set up to supervise the production and distibution to every household, of an information leaflet containing concise statements of the case for and the case against the constitutional amendment. The written statements for and against were prepared by two senior counsel.

The total cost of the ad hoc commission including distribution of the leaflets is estimated at £155,000.

A supplementary estimate to authorise the payment of these expenses will be taken shortly.
