76 Mr. B. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance the projected figure for total Government expenditure in 1995 taking into account all post-budget decisions, including the equality back-payments and the Christmas bonus to social welfare recipients, as well as third-quarter Exchequer returns and the percentage of GNP that it is likely to represent. The position on total Government expenditure in 1995 is being closely monitored by my Department. It is still somewhat early to make a definitive assessment of the likely outturn for the year as a whole. However, there are no indications at this point of the emergence of any significant pressures which would cause total expenditure to be driven off course. I am satisified that total Government expenditure, allowing for all the factors which the Deputy refers to in his question, remains broadly on target for the year.
