Vol. 459 No. 7

Written Answers. - Area Aid.

Michael Ahern

Question:

144 Mr. M. Ahern asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry in the context of area aid where there is a transfer from eligible land to non-eligible land, if he will ensure that the owner is notified by his Department of such a change in view of the fact that this is relevant in the conacre environment. [18877/95]

The transfer of eligibility between eligible and non-eligible land is permitted provided there is no increase in the overall area of eligible land on the holding. All land farmed by an applicant in a particular year, including conacre land, is regarded as part of the holding for that year. In the case of conacre land, producers have been advised to obtain the written consent of the land owner to transfer eligibility. It would not be feasible for my Department to notify individual land owners of such transfers.
