Vol. 459 No. 7

Written Answers. - Cork Airport Development.

Peter Barry

Question:

160 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if Aer Rianta's concept of a business park development at Cork Airport has advanced to any significant extent; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18822/95]

The development of Cork airport is a matter for Aer Rianta.

The Cork Business Park project related to a proposed joint venture between Aer Rianta and a strategic partner for the development over a 10 year period of a 65 acre site adjacent to Cork Airport as a business park comprising offices, warehousing and a hotel incorporating leisure facilities.

I understand from the company that due to problems with its prospective partner its planned joint venture arrangement fell through. I am informed that Aer Rianta is now actively considering other options for the development of the project on the portion of the land in question which is State owned.
