Vol. 460 No. 3

Written Answers. - Sewerage Works.

Michael Bell

Question:

232 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Environment the current position regarding sanction of the final stage of the interceptor sewer in Drogheda, County Louth; when work will commence on the treatment plant; the estimated cost; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19116/95]

I have approved contract documents for the North and South interceptor sewers and tenders for these works are at present being sought by the local authority. Tenders for the various contracts for the treatment works will be sought in early 1996 with construction estimated to start later in the year. The estimated cost of the entire scheme is £41.500,000, with approximately £25 million attributable to the treatment works.

Séamus Hughes

Question:

233 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for the Environment when he will approve to the design and brief for Dugort sewerage scheme at Achill, County Mayo, in view of the fact that a Blue Flag Beach is in the near vicinity. [19144/95]

The brief for the Dugort sewerage scheme is with my Department but, having regard to the existing level of commitments under the water and sewerage schemes programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve it.
