Question:260 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the three and a half year delay in approving the preliminary report for stage two of the Ballina sewerage scheme, County Mayo to enable preparation of contract documents in view of the fact that large amounts of housing lands in the environs of Ballina, County Mayo is sterilised due to a lack of adequate drainage facilities for surface water disposal. The preliminary report for the Ballina main drainage scheme, Stage 2 has been with my Department. Having regard to the existing level of commitment under the water and sewerage programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve it.
