Vol. 461 No. 1

Written Answers - Carndonagh (Donegal) Sewerage System.

Patrick D. Harte

Question:

123 Mr. Harte asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the health hazard being caused by the neglect to properly deal with the damage done to the Carndonagh sewerage system, County Donegal which the County Council cannot deal with in view of lack of finance; and if he will make special funds available to meet the urgency of the matter. [2566/96]

My Department has asked Donegal County Council to re-examine certain aspects of this scheme in light of the most recent census data and the national sludge strategy study. A response is awaited.

Given that planning issues relating to the scheme are still outstanding, the question of funding does not arise at this stage.
