148 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education when her attention was first drawn to the fact that students from the Ursuline Convent, Sligo, received no credit for the craftwork section of the 1995 leaving certificate art examination; the manner in which she was informed that an error of this magnitude had taken place; and the person who informed her. On 12 December 1995 the examinations branch in Athlone informed the assistant secretary with responsibility for second level education of the fact that students at the Ursuline College secondary school had not received credit for craftwork. This information was communicated to me by the assistant secretary on the same day.

149 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education the number of students who took the craftwork option in the 1995 leaving certificate art examination. [3097/96]

Some 3,862 candidates took the craftwork option in the leaving certificate art examination in 1995.
