Question:

26 Mr. L. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht if he has studied the submission from the Combat Poverty Agency on the Green Paper on Broadcasting; his views on the issues raised in the agency's submission; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19270/95]

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

81 Mr. E. Byrne asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht his views on the suggestion by the Independent Radio and Television Commission that it would, as the national broadcasting and transmission agency, take on regulatory responsibility for RTÉ and Teilifís na Gaeilge, Cable and MMDS services and local television; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17770/95]

I propose to take Question Nos. 26 and 81 together. As I have indicated on a number of occasions to the House, I have received 130 submissions, including submissions from the Combat Poverty Agency and the Independent Radio and Television Commission on the Green Paper on Broadcasting which was published in 1995.

The Deputy can be assured that all the submissions are being studied and will inform my deliberations as I develop definite proposals for fresh legislation.
