Question:

68 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Finance the current number of personnel working in his ministerial offices and the office of his Minister(s) of State; the number of personnel that have been seconded or employed on a non-established contract basis; the competition process for filling such positions; the advertisements, if any, made regarding these appointments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3296/96]

The number of personnel currently working in my ministerial office and the offices of my Ministers of State are as follows:

Ministers office:

19 civil servants.

Four contract staff.

Minister of State Doyle's office:

Five civil servants.

Five contract staff.

Minister of State Coveney's office:

Department of Finance:

Two civil servants.

One contract staff.

Office of Public Works:

Six civil servants.

Three contract staff.

All contract staff working in each of the offices referred to are either employed or seconded on a non-established contract basis. There was no competition process for the filling of any such positions. No advertisements were made regarding any of these appointments.
