Question:136 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Justice the Garda strength in each station in County Westmeath for each of the years 1993 to 1995. [3479/96]
Written Answers. - Westmeath Garda Strength.
The Garda authorities are responsible for the detailed deployment of Garda personnel and resources to different areas. The Deputy will be aware that I do, from time to time, provide information on the staffing of individual stations and even small numbers of adjacent stations when requested. However, the Garda authorities are concerned, and I share that concern, about giving more broadly based information of the kind sought in this question. There is a risk that such detailed information, if it came to the notice of criminal elements, could prejudice security and crime prevention generally.
I propose, therefore, to give the information only on a district basis and it is as follows:
