Vol. 461 No. 7

Written Answers. - Teacher Redeployment.

Batt O'Keeffe

Question:

230 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be granted a transfer to a school in County Cork under the secondary teachers redeployment scheme. [3878/96]

The redeployment scheme for lay teachers in catholic secondary schools is the result of an agreement between the religious/clerical authorities of those schools and the Association of Secondary Teachers, Ireland.

The scheme is administered by an independent administrator, appointed jointly by the management authorities and the ASTI.

I understand that the teacher in question has applied to the administrator under Paragraph 1.9 of the scheme for inclusion on the panel for redeployment. The scheme stipulates that the inclusion of a person on the panel shall be at the discretion of the administrator. I have no function in this matter.
