41 Mr. Davern asked the Minister for Justice the steps, if any, to be taken by her Department before the seven extra Circuit Court judges sanctioned by the Courts and Court Officers Act, 1995, can be advertised and filled. [3820/96]
On 30 January, I obtained Government approval for the appointment of 15 additional judges, including seven judges of the Circuit Court. I have requested the Judicial Appointments Advisory Board to submit to me as soon as possible a list of suitable candidates for appointment as judges to the various courts in accordance with the provisions of the Courts and Court Officers Act.
I am now awaiting the submissions of the Judicial Appointments Advisory Board and when I receive them I will submit the matter to Government.
