172 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the outstanding contribution made by Round Tower GAA Club, Dublin 22, to sport and community development, she will approve the club's application for national lottery funding under the major projects scheme; and if she will make a statement on the matter. My Department has received an application from Round Tower GAA Club, Dublin 22, for assistance under the sports capital programme. The current position is that the funds allocated in the Estimates this year are fully committed to projects where grants were allocated in 1995 and in previous years, and where claims for payment will arise this year. Due to the very large number of applications received and the limited funds available, it was not possible to include this project for assistance in 1995.
I will give every consideration to the application from Round Tower GAA Club in the event of funds being provided for the scheme this year.
