Vol. 462 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tourism Information Guidelines.

David Andrews

Question:

223 Mr. Andrews asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the plans, if any, he has to issue guidelines to tourism organisations in relation to charges on information; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4323/96]

The regional tourism organisations were established by Bord Fáilte under section 5 of the Tourist Traffic Act, 1952. They are structured as private companies registered under the Companies Acts, limited by guarantee with memorandum and articles of association.

The memorandum for each organisation specifies that it shall operate in accordance with the policies and directions of Bord Fáilte. The issue of all guidelines to the regional tourism organisations is therefore a day to day matter for Bord Fáilte in which I have no function.
