Question:

63 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the number of unlawful killings in each of the last six years and to date in 1996 in Northern Ireland. [4546/96]

I arranged through the Anglo-Irish Secretariat in Belfast to obtain the information sought by the Deputy.

On the basis of the information provided, the total number of notifiable offences of unlawful killing recorded by the police for the years 1990 to 1994 were as follows:
