Vol. 462 No. 2

Written Answers. - Mayo Group Water Scheme.

Michael Ring

Question:

118 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment the position with the application submitted by the Irishtown and Woodstock group water scheme in County Mayo; and the reason this scheme will not receive funding. [4191/96]

Work is nearing completion on the extension of the Lough Mask regional water supply scheme from Ballinrobe to Claremorris at a cost of some £16 million. This scheme will also provide a quality water supply to privately sourced group schemes in adjacent rural areas, including the Ballindine and Irishtown areas. In view of this, my Department has advised the group that grant assistance will be limited to works required to integrate the group's distribution system with the new public supply network.
