Vol. 462 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Travel.

Seamus Brennan

Question:

107 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the travel deal, if any, signed by five Government Departments with an airline and one agent for all official travel to and from Brussels; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4614/96]

My Department has not signed a travel deal with any airline or travel agent for official travel to and from Brussels.

My Department did however use a travel agent to book all our travel arrangements for a trial period in 1995 following a value for money examinations of current practice. The six month trial period ended last month. My Department is currently reviewing the outcome and examining its future requirements.

I am not aware of the travel arrangements in other Government Departments which in any case are a matter for the respective Ministers.
