Vol. 462 No. 5

Written Answers. - Telecom Éireann Accounts.

Ivor Callely

Question:

246 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the financial position of Telecom Éireann on 31 December 1995; the considerations, if any, given to this position; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4992/96]

Telecom Éireann's accounting year runs from April to March. Copies of the annual report and accounts for the year ended 30 March 1995, the latest year for which published accounts are available, are in the Dáil Library.

In accordance with the provisions of the Postal and Telecommunications Services Act, 1983, Telecom Éireann is required to submit its annual report and accounts, and their auditor's report on such accounts, to me and, in the normal course, I report to the Cabinet on these prior to their publication.
