35 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the name of each of the ESB subsidiary and associated companies in 1994; the percentage of ESB holdings; the activity of each company; the total amount invested by the ESB in subsidiaries and associates by way of shares and loans; and the profit and loss position of each company. 45 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the profit and loss position in respect of the ESB subsidiary and associate companies referred to in the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 26 of 17 May 1995, in view of the fact that this information was not available at that time. I propose to take Questions Nos. 35 and 45 together. ESB's total investment by way of equity and loans in subsidiaries and associated companies in respect of 1994 was £52.6 million. The remaining information in respect of 1994 is in the form of a tabular statement which I propose to circulate in the Official Report. Information on the financial performance of certain companies is not included as it is considered to be commercially sensitive.

ESB subsidiary groups are now all profit making. The loss-making Salmara has been disposed of.
