Vol. 462 No. 6

Written Answers. - Cheekpoint Harbour (Waterford) Silting Problem.

Godfrey Timmins

Question:

36 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for the Marine the plans, if any, he has in solving the problem of silting both inside and outside of the harbour at Cheekpoint, County Waterford in conjunction with Waterford Harbour Commissioners and Waterford County Council in view of the difficulties being experienced by fishermen and owners of pleasure craft. [5165/96]

Harbour works carried out by Waterford Harbour Commissioners in order to improve access to Belview Port have caused a build up of silt at Cheekpoint Harbour.

Waterford Harbour Commissioners are aware of the problem, are examining options for dealing with it and are conducting consultations with local interests.
