Vol. 463 No. 2

Written Answers. - Eastern Health Board Appointments.

Chris Flood

Question:

52 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Health if additional or new posts (details supplied) have been filled in the Eastern Health Board area further to the implementation of the Child Care Act and the announcement of his predecessor made on 22 September 1993; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5959/96]

I understand from the Eastern Health Board that the posts referred to, which were approved in 1993 for child care services have been filled with the exception of a psychiatric social work post for County Kildare. This post is due to be filled on a permanent basis in the near future.

I can also confirm that the Eastern Health Board provided funding to a number of children's residential centres for the recruitment of additional staff.

Since 1993 a further 185 posts have been approved for the development of child care and family support services in the Eastern Health Board and to strengthen the capacity of the board to meet the demands of the new legislation.
