270 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the name, location and number of staff employed in each agency, organisation or body under the aegis of his Department which has a responsibility in relation to job creation, including tourism, enterprise promotion, community, rural or urban development and EU initiatives, including disbursement of grant aid. None of the State bodies under the aegis of my Department has been given a specific responsibility in relation to job creation.

It should be pointed out, however, that employment in the overall economy depends critically on the ability of the commercial State companies under the aegis of the Department of Transport, Energy and Communications to provide competitive, efficient and effective services and that the operation of economic and viable enterprises will contribute to the creation of sustainable employment in the relevant sectors.
