Vol. 463 No. 8

Written Answers. - Sentence Review.

John O'Donoghue

Question:

139 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Justice the current position regarding the review of the sentence imposed on a Dundalk restaurateur previously raised by Deputy O'Donoghue in an adjournment debate dated 6 December 1995; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7460/96]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the sentence imposed on a Dundalk restaurateur is the subject of an appeal by the State to the Court of Criminal Appeal. The date of the hearing of the appeal has not yet been arranged.

The Deputy will appreciate that as the matter is before the courts I cannot make any further comment on this case.
