165 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the level of remuneration of the non-executive directors of boards, companies or agencies under the aegis of his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6517/96]

The following are the fees payable to non-executive chairpersons and directors of State-sponsored bodies under the aegis of my Department:

On 25 June 1992 the Government decided (S.27091) on a revised schedule of fees for chairpersons and ordinary members of State bodies and agreed that future reviews of these fees should take place every four years.
The fees approved by Government in 1992 fall into the following groups:

Group 1

Chairperson

Directors £5,000

£7,500;

Group 2

Chairperson

Directors £4,000

£6,000;

Group 3

Chairperson

Directors £2,500

£4,000;

Group 4

Chairperson

Directors £2,000

£3,000;

The fees payable to the chairman of the National Milk Agency and the interim board were not included in the above decision but were subsequently sanctioned by the Department of Finance.
