Vol. 463 No. 8

Written Answers. - Department Properties.

Eoin Ryan

Question:

60 Mr. E. Ryan asked the Minister for Finance, further to his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 67 of 26 March 1996, the properties owned or used by his Department and not the entire State property portfolio; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7369/96]

Title to the bulk of the State property portfolio is vested in the Minister for Finance or in the Commissioners of Public Works. The Offices under the aegis of the Department of Finance, included in this analysis are: the Office of Public Works, the Office of the Ombudsman, the State Laboratory, the Revenue Commissioners, the Civil Service Commission and the Valuation Office. A complete inventory of the premises occupied by these bodies is being sent separately to the Deputy for his information. A certain amount of research will need to be done to investigate which of these properties pre-date 1843. I am arranging to have this work carried out and the results will be communicated to the Deputy as soon as possible.
