Vol. 464 No. 1

Written Answers. - Gender Balance.

Mary Wallace

Question:

70 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform if he will make a statement on the failure of Government Departments to adhere to the principle of gender balances when appointing task forces and review groups. [7688/96]

The Government's policy on gender balance, namely that at least 40 per cent of members should be women and at least 40 per cent men, applies to the appointment of task forces and review groups where feasible. If the Deputy is concerned about particular cases, she should put down a question to the Ministers concerned.
