In the context of its corporate plan covering the period 1994-1999 Teagasc envisaged recruiting some 250 new professional staff. To date, sanction has been given to Teagasc to recruit 91 such staff. The question of further recruitment over the period to 1999 will have to be considered in the light of prevailing Government policy on public sector recruitment.
