Vol. 464 No. 2

Written Answers. - REPS Payments.

Gerard C. Connolly

Question:

45 Mr. Connolly asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the plans, if any, he has to deal with delays in REP scheme payments. [7584/96]

Due to the high level of deficient plans submitted during the first year of the scheme more detailed checking of applications is now being carried out before payments are made. This has led to some delays but I am seeking to ensure that these are minimised. The increased level of inspections is necessary to ensure compliance with the terms of the scheme.
