Question:122 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry his views on a recent report in the Irish Farmers Journal that 9,000 farmers are not using their milk quota. [6325/96]

The number of quota holders not using their quota is estimated at 9,000 for the 1994-95 milk quota year. The unused quota held by these farmers was made available to other producers, mainly those in the small scale category, under the temporary leasing scheme.
