59 Kathleen Lynch asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs when the humanitarian liaison group and the rapid response register, referred to in the White Paper on Foreign Policy, will be fully operational. [8371/96]
Prior to the publication of the White Paper on Foreign Policy, my Department has held preliminary discussions on the establishment of the humanitarian liaison group with relevant Government Departments, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Agency for Personal Services Overseas.
Since publication, discussions have taken place with UNICEF and the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. I will shortly invite Government Departments to nominate representatives to the humanitarian liaison group and I am committed to having the rapid response register established as soon as possible thereafter.
