Vol. 464 No. 6

Written Answers. - Labour Legislation Entitlements.

Seán Haughey

Question:

199 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the structures, if any, that are in place within his Department to help and advise employees of their rights and entitlements under current labour legislation by way of telephone and other methods; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8739/96]

The employment rights information unit of the Department operates an information service to answer inquiries from people about employment rights legislation and to inform people of the rights and obligations of employees and employers under the legislation. While the majority of inquiries are made by telephone, the staff of the unit are also available to members of the public who call in person to the Department.

A "Guide to Labour Law", providing information on the range of labour legislation administered by my Department in simple non-technical terms is available from the unit, as well as explanatory leaflets providing more detailed information on individual pieces of legislation.
