Vol. 464 No. 6

Written Answers. - Cork Hospital Appointments.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

77 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health if he will expedite the appointment of consultants and an anaesthetist for a hospital (details supplied) in County Cork. [8491/96]

, Limerick East): My Department has recently given financial clearance for the filling of the post of consultant physician and two posts of consultant anaesthetists at Mallow general hospital.

It is now the responsibility of the Southern Health Board to make an application for the above posts of Comhairle na nOspidéal, the statutory body charged with responsibility for the regulation of consultant appointments. Upon approval by Comhairle, it is a matter for the Southern Health Board, in consultation with the Local Appointments Commission, to arrange for the advertising and filling of the above consultant posts.
