Vol. 464 No. 8

Written Answers. - Equal Status Policy Programme.

Liz O'Donnell

Question:

11 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform if he intends to require an institution or organisation to develop and implement an equal status policy programme as recommended by the task force. [8861/96]

The Task Force on the Travelling Community recommended that, under the proposed equal status legislation, an equality authority or commission would have the powers and resources to require institutions or organisations to develop equal status policy programmes. This recommendation, in common with other task force recommendations relating to equal status legislation, will be taken into account in the development of the equal status Bill, which is currently being drafted.
