139 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Education when the higher education grants scheme will be extended to include maintenance payments in respect of Irish students studying at third level colleges in the United Kingdom; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9105/96]

154 Mr. O'Leary asked the Minister for Education if she will have arrangements made to pay maintenance grants to third level students in British colleges in the 1996/1997 school year. [9304/96]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 139, 140 and 154 together.

The arrangements for the extension of maintenance grants to Irish students studying in other EU countries are now being finalised in my Department for incorporation in the 1996 student support schemes. I will be announcing the details shortly.
