Vol. 465 No. 1

Written Answers. - Moville (Donegal) School.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

151 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education whether she envisages having an amalgamated school in Moville, County Donegal, operational on time for the commencement of the academic year 1996-1997; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9260/96]

My Department would support the commencement of an amalgamated school in Moville from September 1996. It will be appreciated, however, that given the time scale involved, the school would have to operate on a split campus initially, using the existing accommodation at the boys' and girls' schools.

As I indicated to the Deputy in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 87 on 1 May 1996, my Department will be in contact with the chairman of the school boards of management in the near future regarding both the proposed amalgamation and improved school accommodation for the area.
