Vol. 465 No. 2

Written Answers. - Request for Inquiry.

Máire Geoghegan-Quinn

Question:

17 Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn asked the Minister for the Environment whether he intends to accede to the unanimous request by members of North Tipperary County Council to initiate an inquiry into the workings of the council. [9279/96]

The information supplied by the council is not sufficient to form a judgement on the council's request for an inquiry. As the council has requested, I intend, therefore, to have a senior official of my Department meet with council representatives to enable their request to be further elaborated. My Department will be in touch with the council shortly to make appropriate arrangements.
