Question:

104 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for the Environment the number of driving testers that are employed; if he will give a breakdown between male and female; the criteria necessary to be a successful applicant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9351/96]

There are 70 driver testers employed by my Department, 69 male and one female.

Applicants for the post of driver tester must be between 27 and 50 years of age, have a good general education and have at least five years' driving experience, including experience of driving vehicles of at least 7,500 KGs design gross vehicle weight.
