Vol. 465 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Extension.

Mildred Fox

Question:

161 Ms M. Fox asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the urgent need for an extension to Hacketstown vocational school, County Carlow in view of the fact that ten of the current classrooms are prefabs, some of which are over 20 years old; when she will approve such an extension; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9659/96]

An extension is currently being planned for Hacketstown vocational school, County Carlow, and architectural planning of the project is proceeding. The outline sketch scheme which was submitted by County Carlow vocational education committee is currently being examined by my Department's technical staff and the vocational education committee will be contacted as soon as this examination has been finalised. Every effort is being made to have the planning of the extension completed as quickly as possible.
