Vol. 465 No. 3

Written Answers. - Replacement School.

Charlie McCreevy

Question:

162 Mr. McCreevy asked the Minister for Education the progress, if any, made on the building of a secondary school in Celbridge, County Kildare in view of the closure of St. Wolstan's school. [9660/96]

A new community school has been approved as a replacement for St. Wolstan's secondary school in Celbridge.

The design team engaged to undertake the architectural planning is currently preparing an outline sketch scheme for the proposed new school. When this has been submitted to my Department's post primary building unit for examination, the project will be progressed further.

It is not possible at this stage to say when construction will commence. However, the Deputy can be assured that every effort will be made to progress this project as quickly as possible.
