Vol. 465 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Enterprise Grants Ruling.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

212 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he will review the case of a firm (details supplied) in County Donegal who will be directly affected by the recent ministerial ruling regarding the drawing down of county enterprise grants. [9486/96]

The approval of grant assistance for a project from a county enterprise board is conditional, inter alia, on the grant being fully drawn down within 12 months of the date of the grant approval. However, following consideration of the matter by my Department in consultation with the CEBs it has been decided that as an exceptional matter a list of projects may be forwarded to my Department whose validity date has expired but where the board in question would, nevertheless, recommend payment.

I understand that the delay in the case of the project referred to in the Deputy's question arose because of difficulties experienced in getting planning permission. I have accordingly agreed to the limited extension of grant approval until 3 July on the recommendations of the Donegal county enterprise board.
