Vol. 465 No. 3

Written Answers. - EU Matters.

Joe Walsh

Question:

86 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will give details of the EU directives, regulations and conventions in respect of which his Department has responsibility and which have not yet been transposed into or made part of Irish law; and the timescale for completion of the work in respect of each instrument. [9678/96]

My Department does not have responsibility for transposing EC directives into Irish law. This task is undertaken by the Department with responsibility for the subject matter covered by each individual directive.

EC Regulations when they come into force, automatically form part of Irish law without need for transposition. Conventions, which are concluded between the European Community and third countries do not require transposition into Irish law.
