85 Miss Harney asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs whether he will attend the UN Conference on Human Settlements in June 1996; if so, the action, if any, he proposes to take at the conference; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9637/96]
I will not attend the UN Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II) in June 1996. Since the Department of the Environment is serving as the lead Department for this conference and is responsible for chairing the national committee for Habitat II, the Minister for the Environment, Deputy Howlin will lead the Irish delegation at the conference. The Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Deputy McManus will also attend.
