Question:105 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health whether approval has issued in respect of the proposal that medical card holders in receipt of unemployment assistance be entitled to retain their medical card for a period of three years if they secure employment in the interim. [9466/96]

Arrangements for the provision of medical cards for the long-term unemployed following the budget announcement are being finalised and it is intended that these will be put in place in the near future.
