Vol. 465 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dental Scheme.

Mary Harney

Question:

106 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Health when the promised extension to the dental scheme for medical card holders, which has been deferred, will be introduced in view of the fact that large numbers of people, under 65 years are in need of dental treatment and in particular are in need of dentures; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9481/96]

Limerick East): As I said in my reply on 30 April to questions from Deputy Ahern and Deputy Brennan, I intend to introduce the second phase of the dental treatment services scheme on 1 June 1996. Under the second phase of the scheme routine dental treatment will be extended to medical card holders between the ages of 16 and 34 and full denture treatment will be extended to all medical card holders without any natural teeth.
