Vol. 465 No. 3

Written Answers. - EU Matters.

Joe Walsh

Question:

118 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht if he will give details of the EU directives, regulations and conventions in respect of which his Department has responsibility and which have not yet been transposed into or made part of Irish law; and the timescale for completion of the work in respect of each instrument. [9682/96]

Council Directive 92/43/EEC on the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora is the only EU Directive in respect of which my Department has responsibility which has not yet been transposed into Irish law. Regulations under the European Communities Act, 1972, to transpose this Directive into Irish law are at an advanced stage of preparation and are expected to be made by autumn 1996.
