Vol. 465 No. 5

Written Answers. - Bus Route Licence.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

78 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he will reply to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath who has written to him requesting a licence to run a bus route for limited carriage of people; whether such licences are available; the costs and conditions attaching to such a licence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10039/96]

My Department has replied to a recent letter from the person to whom the Deputy refers, setting out the basic requirement to hold a road passenger transport operator's licence in order to gain access to the profession of bus operator and the necessity to hold a separate road passenger licence where the operation of a scheduled bus service is proposed. The reply was accompanied by the relevant application forms and information notes about the two licensing schemes.
