144 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education whether he will review the funding in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Donegal who is performing internationally and very successfully advocating Irish sporting capabilities; and if she will make a statement on the matter. An application for grant-aid under the outstanding sportspersons scheme 1996 was received on behalf of the person in question. However, the panel of assessors which advises on the allocation of such grants did not include this applicant on its list of recommendations.
I am satisfied that the panel carried out a full and extensive assessment of all applications. An application on behalf of the person in question can be considered under next year's scheme.
