Vol. 466 No. 1

Written Answers. - Institute of Incorporated Public Accountants.

Seamus Brennan

Question:

202 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the reason official auditing recognition has been granted to the Institute of Incorporated Public Accountants; if his attention has been drawn to the objections being raised by the CCABI in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10891/96]

I understand that the recognition of the Institute of Incorporated Public Accountants is now the subject of legal proceedings initiated by the CCAB-I. It is the intention of the Minister of State with responsibility for science and technology to defend the case vigorously.

As the matter is sub judice, it would not be appropriate for me to comment further at the present time.
