Question:204 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason an application under the REP scheme was refused to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if he will have arrangements made to have this application favourably reviewed. [10719/96]
A number of deficiencies were found in the REPS application in question including the fact that the son of the applicant has included the same lands on an agri-environmental plan submitted as part of a separate REPS application.
Under the terms of the scheme where operators of farms are farming as one unit only one application can be made. In the case in question as the lands are farmed as one unit a revised application and agri-environmental plan must be submitted showing all the lands within the unit before payment can issue.

Question:205 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture. Food and Forestry if he has satisfied himself that the qualification criteria for applicants for inclusion under the REP scheme is consistent from county to county; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10720/96]
The qualification criteria for applicants under the REP scheme are set out in the scheme document. Initial processing of applications under the scheme is carried out at local farm development services office level with final processing and application acceptance carried out at headquarters level. I am satisfied that the scheme is operated in a consistent manner from county to county.
